I normally post a set of pictures from any given trip, and have almost no writing to accompany it, but I felt this picture deserved a special post. Click the jump to read more.
This picture took awhile to plan, I got my hands on this cup a year ago and since then have had this crazy idea in the back of my head that it would make a cool picture if I could get down to Mt. Fuji and take the time to find a nice setting on a nice day.
Well, I did just that and the result is the picture you see above. But the story does not end there, apparently I was not the only one who thought this photo was cool. Since posting the picture to Flickr, it has received (as of writing) more than 242,000 views. To give you an idea of how huge this is, my average photo on Flickr before this sat at about 100 views. And those are photos which had been sitting there for months and months. This photo achieved that ridiculous number in just two day's time.
The photo has been linked to on more than 100 different websites, has been favorited by more than 250 other Flickr users, made the front page of Flickr's "Explore" section, and wound up on the first page of the "Most Interesting" section. These are all things I never thought I would see come to pass as a result of one of my pictures, so needless to say I am very surprised and very happy with the reaction of the online photo community.
I promised I wouldn't blather on about things on this website, so I had best put a sock in it soon, but I guess I wanted to say that this experience has really ignited my passion for my new hobby, and I hope that I can create something people love as much as this in the future.
One member was kind enough to give me a screenshot of it's prominent place on the Explore section's front page:

Wow, this is stunning, kiddo! I am very happy for you and very happy for you. I bet you will have a wonderful time when you are very rich and very famous.... Nicely done! Love, Mom
