Blue Impulse

Blue Impulse is is the aeronautic demonstration team of the JASDF (Japan Air Self-Defense Force).  They are based in Matsushima, which is luckily (for me) just a few trains stops away.  My first attempt at shooting an air-show, found I need a longer zoom.

Flying in Formation
One of the first passes in formation

Hello.
One of the Blue Impulse planes up close before the show.

...because I was inverted.
This photo reminded me of Top Gun.  It may have been the inspiration as well seeing as "Danger Zone" was playing during this song.

He's outta here.
This jet is heading towards another one and they will cross paths in the middle to create a cool formation in the sky.

Dangerously Beautiful
They did this maneuver much further away from the crowd than the others, perhaps it didn't just look insanely dangerous?

Creating the Atari Logo
5 of the 6 jets creating a cool formation in the sky, which is strangely reminiscent of the Atari logo.

Circles in the Sky
The six jets created some circles in the sky directly above the crowd, making it impossible to get in one shot.

These are 7 of 18 pictures I put online, if you wish to check out the others in the set please follow this link.
